Summer Music Series
Lakeside in Lake George

In 2010, the Village of Lake George’s Shepard Park — located in the heart of that famed tourist destination’s busy Canada Street downtown area — was in need of entertainment programming for Friday summer nights. Into that void stepped local businessman and music lover Dave Ehmann.

After investing in a high quality public address system and establishing a business entity called Improv Records for this and other music-related purposes, Mr Ehmann went about rounding up the production crew to stage a summer-long lineup of local musical acts. The fun began in May.  With an amphitheater setting, the lake as a backdrop and a mix of out-of-town visitors and locals in attendance, a fine time was had by all.

2011 was a repeat performance, with the added excitement of a few regional “original touring” acts sprinkled into the mix. One such performance, by the eastern Massachusetts-based Jamie Kent and the Options, was ranked as the Concert of the Year by the popular Capital Region blog Nanoburgh.

2012 and 2013 were even bigger! With a ten-show series set in the middle of the high-season months of June, July and August, the programming lineup was again upgraded to add more rising star types of touring artists to the schedule.
